As we move into January 2026, the festive Christmas season will soon be behind us, and we’ll find ourselves stepping back into the rhythm of everyday life. That transition can feel heavy. The energy, warmth, and meaning of Christmas often make the return to “normal” feel abrupt—especially when January greets us with cold temperatures, long nights, and the familiar narrative of Blue Monday.
Blue Monday, which falls on the third Monday of January, has earned its reputation as the most depressing day of the year. Christmas is officially over, credit card bills start to arrive, the weather can feel relentless, and many people have already let their New Year’s resolutions quietly slip away.
You’ll often hear advice this time of year like:
Take a vacation.
Get together with friends.
Try light therapy to fight Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
I’ve tried all of those. And while they helped me get through January, they always felt like temporary relief—coping mechanisms rather than solutions. Eventually, I grew tired of just surviving January. I wanted to thrive.
Through reflection, I realized that January itself wasn’t the problem. What made it difficult was the anxiety that crept in once the busyness and distraction of Christmas faded. Questions start to surface:
Will we be okay financially this year?
Will our health hold up?
How will we manage everything already on our plates?
When you trace fear back far enough, it almost always connects to something deeper—uncertainty, loss of control, and ultimately our most primal fear. We can distract ourselves from that fear, or we can choose the true antidote: growth.
Somewhat unexpectedly, January has become one of my favorite months of the year. That wasn’t intentional at first—I stumbled into it. I began using January as a time to read, reflect, and engage deeply with personal growth ideas. I didn’t just consume information; I started applying it. I treated January as a season of renewal and intentional progress.
For those of us in agriculture, January often offers a slower pace, making it an ideal time for this kind of work—but this opportunity isn’t limited to farmers. January can be a powerful reset for anyone willing to use it well.
I encourage you to choose something you’ve always wanted to work toward—whether it’s a skill, a habit, or a version of yourself you haven’t yet stepped into. This isn’t about another New Year’s resolution. We all know how those usually end. Instead, think of this as building momentum through small, intentional actions that compound into meaningful change.
As we step into 2026, I’m excited for a new chapter. In late January, we’re renewing the 100X Breakthrough Program—a transformational experience designed to help people upgrade their thinking, their habits, and ultimately their identity. It’s all about building a better life, family and business. There are still a few spots left in the program so if joining a group of like-minded people looking to become something more appeals to you then reach out to us, I would love to meet with you personally and discuss if it is a good fit.
The 100X Breakthrough isn’t about hype or quick fixes. It’s about creating lasting change from the inside out. Over the course of the program, we focus on clarity of vision, personal responsibility, habit installation, and aligning daily actions with the future you actually want. This is deep work—but practical work. The kind that changes how you show up in your business, your family, and your life.
January is the perfect time for this kind of breakthrough. Instead of dreading the month, we’re choosing to use it as a launchpad—to install new habits, build a stronger self-image, and set the tone for the entire year ahead.
My challenge to you is simple: don’t just endure January. Use it. Lean into growth. Make space for reflection. Commit to something meaningful. If you do, January might just become your favorite month of the year—and 2026 could become your best year yet.
